The plant species at these long-term reforestation and afforestation sites are specifically selected and care is taken over the soil enhancement, planting techniques and maintenance of the plants. To keep a rein on mortality, we conduct Sapling Protection Action some two weeks after planting and at regular intervals after.

Everyone is welcome to get out into nature for a meaningful activity amidst growing forests with friends and family, and to actively support the SGP2030 vision of a City in Nature.

Here’s to a nurtuting new year!

Sat 17 Jun 2023: 8.00am – Calling residents of Holland Village, Buona Vista, Ghim Moh and environs: join this neighbourhood reforestation programme at Rail Corridor South!

We invite you to join us on this reforestation effort at the Rail Corridor South. This is the first of a long-term programme which will include maintenance of plots, and is ideal for residents or workers of the larger area!

Sign up with the  registration link here.

The Rail Corridor serves as a haven for diverse flora and fauna species, and provides a crucial migration pathway for wildlife, allowing them to move freely between different green spaces. This connectivity is essential for genetic diversity and the long-term survival of species. Efforts are underway to restore and enhance the natural habitats within the Rail Corridor by reintroducing native plant species and creating suitable environments for wildlife.

NUS Toddycats joins this call in June and begin at a site behind Ghim Moh near Buona Vista MRT. With NParks support we will undertake soil preparation and tree-planting of suitable plant species selected by NParks, suitable for this habitat.

Soil prep will entail scraping the grass off the topsoil, excavating soil with a changkul, loosening embedded rocks with a chiam and adding approved soil mixture into the ground to enhance the soil before planting.

Join us for this reforestation effort and sign up here.
